Department Vision
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities, Al-Hamdaniya, seeks to achieve quality and excellence in the coming years, and to occupy a prominent position within the college and within the Ministry’s plans. This is achieved by working to graduate students capable of competitive employment, providing a distinguished educational environment and a climate that encourages theoretical and practical scientific research, excellence in providing academic programs and psychological and educational services to the community, and leadership in scientific research./Department Mission
Department Message
The department’s mission is to contribute effectively to meeting the needs of society at the local and regional levels, and to disseminate psychological knowledge at the theoretical and practical (field) levels, in accordance with international standards, community requirements, and professional ethics. The mission is to enable faculty members to enrich educational and psychological sciences by conducting original, purposeful scientific research. The department also provides community service through various services, lectures, and workshops for various segments of society, keeping pace with the changes taking place in educational and psychological sciences.
Department Objectives
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences is one of the most important departments that contributes to the process of preparing and developing human resources. It works to achieve important aspects of the overall goal and general objectives of the educational system, as well as the goals of higher education and the goals of the College of Education, in light of the central philosophy of the state.
The specific educational objectives of the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences can be crystallized into the following dimensions:
First: The cognitive dimension, which includes the following objectives:
- Preparing students scientifically, professionally, and culturally, enabling them to understand educational and psychological facts, concepts, and theories, and to grasp the basic principles that qualify them for teaching, graduate research, and psychological and educational counseling in the institutions of the Ministry of Education and social and educational institutions.
- Empowering students to apply scientific methods to address life and professional problems and situations, and the ability to analyze these methods and judge them according to specific criteria.
- Empowering graduates to continue their postgraduate studies, absorb scientific developments and advancements in the field of educational and psychological sciences, and master scientific research methods.
- Deepening scientific cooperation in educational and social institutions, and holding seminars, study groups, workshops, and programs in the field of continuing education.
Second: The affective aspect, which includes the following objectives:
- Helping students acquire beneficial attitudes and values in line with our Arab values, thus achieving To achieve the highest levels of progress and maturity.
- Developing students’ attitudes, inclinations, and desires, and enhancing their capabilities in the teaching, scientific research, and psychological counseling professions.
- Developing and enhancing ethical attitudes and values, especially in the teaching, scientific research, and psychological counseling professions, and preventing the misuse of their responsibilities in the educational and psychological fields.
Third, the psychomotor dimension (skills), which includes:
- Enabling students to acquire the basic skills related to the teaching, scientific research, and psychological counseling professions, and working to develop and enhance them to perform their work successfully and face life situations with high efficiency while practicing their profession.
- Developing and guiding students and community members towards acquiring self-learning skills, expanding their horizons, and developing their competencies so that they become able to communicate with sources of knowledge and culture on their own.
