The Department of educational and psychological sciences is the backbone of the Faculty of education for the humanities, and the feeder and support for all scientific departments in it, because it plays a pivotal role in preparing students and qualifying them scientifically and professionally. The department was established in 2010-2011 in Hamdaniya district (Qaraqosh), and at its beginning it included one academic stage, then it began to grow and develop thanks to the sincere efforts and continuous cooperation between its professors and scientific cadres. The department was able to graduate the first batch of its students in 2014, and then the graduating batches followed with outstanding scientific competence and high competitiveness in the field of educational and psychological work. The department aims to prepare professionally, scientifically and culturally qualified students who are able to apply cognitive facts, pedagogical and psychological theories in practice. It also seeks to instill principles and values that qualify them to practice scientific research, psychological guidance, and critical thinking systematically. The objectives of the department are derived from the general vision of the Faculty of education and its mission to prepare a good, educated person, capable of contributing to the building and development of his community. The Department of educational and psychological sciences includes an academic staff distinguished by its diversity of specialties in the fields of psychology and teaching methods, and is keen to achieve quality standards and academic excellence, and reach a leading position in the University and the local community alike. The department also works to enhance scientific and educational cooperation with educational and social institutions through holding scientific seminars, seminars, and workshops within the continuing education activities, to keep pace with the changes and challenges witnessed by contemporary society. In its humanitarian and academic vision, the Department seeks to be a beacon of Science and knowledge, a place where human thought meets practical application in order to build a conscious and creative generation. The department is concerned with qualifying students who have a deep understanding of education and psychology, and are working to develop education and support mental health in society in a high scientific and humanitarian spirit. We believe that education is not just education, but a lofty message aimed at developing minds, refining values, and building a psychologically and intellectually balanced human being. Therefore, we always strive to provide a university environment that stimulates creativity, dialogue, teamwork, and continuous research.
