Overview:
The Office of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, headed by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, consists of several departments and units:

  • Studies and Planning Division
  • Qualification and Employment Unit
  • Scientific Affairs Unit
  • Government Program Unit
  • Guidance and Counseling Unit
  • Continuing Education Unit

  • Human Rights Unit

Each division and unit is led by a director responsible for its activities and duties according to established instructions and regulations.

To operate with professionalism and full independence while ensuring the organized progression of the educational process in accordance with current laws and regulations, thereby enhancing academic quality standards to the highest level.

Mission:
The mission of the Office of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies focuses on:

  • Ensuring the implementation of all standards and requirements defined by regulations concerning student affairs, from registration, course scheduling, and exam timetables to processing requests for transfers, deferments, and other academic matters.
  • Applying applicable laws and regulations across undergraduate and graduate student affairs to facilitate a smooth educational process in compliance with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, contributing to the development of a disciplined and academically competent generation.

Objectives:

  • Achieve a prestigious position and high academic reputation in education and scientific research among Colleges of Education specializing in Human Sciences in Iraq.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment that fosters competition, creativity, and innovation among students across all disciplines.
  • Adhere to high scientific standards regarding curricula, infrastructure, laboratories, and academic staff.
  • Monitor conferences, seminars, workshops, and scientific activities within the college.
  • Oversee the academic progress and discipline of undergraduate and graduate students until graduation.

Duties:

  1. Organize, track, and record incoming and outgoing correspondence in registers and electronically archive them for all divisions and units under the office.
  2. Receive correspondence from the Dean’s office and the University Presidency, and distribute it to units and divisions according to the sender and nature of the document.
  3. Supervise and collaborate with subordinate units to respond to administrative correspondence.
  4. Organize weekly course schedules in coordination with academic departments, considering classroom availability.
  5. Coordinate with the Registration and Student Affairs Division regarding undergraduate student attendance, investigative committees, tuition, and related administrative orders.
  6. Monitor graduate students’ academic requests (deferment, transfer, facilitation, extension) and complete the procedures for thesis defense, preparing minutes, and issuing related administrative orders.
  7. Coordinate with the Continuing Education Unit regarding seminars, workshops, and courses.
  8. Organize final exam schedules in collaboration with academic departments.
  9. Monitor exam procedures and report exam-related matters to the Assistant Scientific Dean.
  10. Coordinate with academic departments to ensure timely responses to official correspondence.
