The Arabic Language Department was established with the founding of the Al-Hamdaniya College of Education in 2011, following the Qaraqosh student bus bombing. It began as a small, young formation, with a single phase, but quickly expanded, and its student numbers increased to 180 in 2014. Just as the deanship and department heads were preparing to celebrate the graduation of the first batch of students, a violent storm suddenly struck, shattering the dream.
